Senior Highways Engineer

Key Features:
* To take the strategic lead role the planned maintenance and improvement of the Council’s carriageway and foot-way infrastructure.
* To provide specialist technical overview of all highways works programmes, design, and development of more complex programmes, leading on community engagement, prepare cost estimates and agree accounts, carrying out drawing designs using CAD systems as necessary.
* Under the Council’s term contract, to supervise the implementation of highway works, including contract administration, financial control, and site supervision.
* Prepare revenue and capital estimates, and the programming and control of expenditure, both on individual projects and on specific areas of expenditure.
* This is a site-based role.
Experience & Qualifications:
* An awareness of the highways, traffic, transport, and environmental issues.
* A detailed knowledge and understanding of highways, transport and public safety legislation, statutory duties, and practice.
* Experience in the various forms of public consultation techniques and working effectively towards user participation to meet customer/client expectations and requirements.
* A record of successful and consistent development and delivery of highways major and responsive maintenance works and programmes across at least 2 highways engineering areas.
