Job Title: Commissioning Lead (3-month Contract)

Location: West Sussex, Hybrid or Fully Remote

Rate: £500-£600/day

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning Lead to join a local authority team in West Sussex. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the availability of social care solutions for residents across the county. You will take charge of key commissioning work streams, handling complex issues escalated by senior officers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead set commissioning work streams, ensuring alignment with the Council's strategic intentions and addressing current and future demands.
  • Foster a robust care market in West Sussex by sourcing high-quality services and solutions.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex issues independently, making pragmatic decisions with a direct impact on business objectives.
  • Forward-plan over the long term, continuously developing and reviewing the effectiveness of services and solutions.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with independent providers, Adult Services teams, external partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Apply a range of commissioning and procurement techniques to plan and deliver various commissioning programs across different services.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis, interpreting complex information to develop practical, effective solutions.
  • Utilise strong numeracy and IT skills to interpret, report, and advise on complex commissioning, contract, and financial information.
  • Provide direction and support to individuals and teams, effectively managing people across different disciplines or locations.
  • Excel at each stage of the commissioning cycle, implementing a range of techniques to achieve objectives successfully.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver ambitious outcomes for West Sussex customers.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, including the ability to challenge and navigate difficult conversations.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of initiative, multitasking, and prioritising work effectively.
  • Motivate and inspire others to deliver high-quality services that offer value for money to the Council.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in commissioning and procurement within social care and care home settings.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in IT and numeracy, with an understanding of finance and legal issues.
  • Effective people management skills, including the ability to provide direction and support to teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
