Role Description: We are seeking a talented Structural/Civil Design Engineer with a comprehensive understanding of structural issues related to new builds, extensions, remodeling, and refurbishment across various building types, including residential, commercial, educational, and institutional structures. As a Structural/Civil Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing and assessing structural integrity, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting structural design for various materials, including reinforced concrete, composite structures, timber, masonry, and structural steel.
  • Performing feasibility assessments and structural surveys, including stability and condition assessments.
  • Conducting subsidence and ground stability assessments.
  • Managing Party Wall assessments and providing advice in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Overseeing long-term monitoring and health and safety inspections of properties owned by the organization.
  • Conducting Building Regulations checks, particularly Part A related to structures.
  • Undertaking environmental and contaminated land assessments, including desk-based studies and procuring specialist site investigations.
  • Managing demolition contracts and land remediation schemes from feasibility to completion.
  • Preparing briefs and requirements for suppliers, overseeing major capital schemes from assessment to completion.
  • Appraising outputs from suppliers and devising site remediation strategies as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in structural design for various building types, including historic and listed buildings.
  • Proficiency in conducting structural surveys and investigations, including stability and condition assessments.
  • Familiarity with Party Wall Act regulations (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations, particularly Part A related to structures.
  • Experience in environmental and contaminated land assessments, including flood risk and drainage strategies.
  • Competence in managing demolition contracts and land remediation schemes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
